Museum
of Wales
& Wrexham
Museum
Opening its doors officially later in summer 2026, after a major refurbishment and multi-year program of investment, we are looking forward to our brand new national museum.
It will be celebrating our long proud history of football, with the Welsh Football Association being founded here in Wrexham exactly 150 years ago.
Also fondly known as the 'Museum of two halves' - giving both a nod to its dual purpose and to the great game itself, our new museum will celebrate the people, the history of Wrexham and its national importance as the ancestral home of football in Wales.
150 years in the making
The
Beautiful
Game.
Founded in
Wrexham.
The original building was built in 1855 and has long been a familiar sight in Wrexham and recently from 1996 served as Wrexham's local museum.
With the planned celebrations in 2026 celebrating 150 years of the Welsh FA, the site has undergone an extensive redevelopment program, to bring it up to national standards, and offering visitors to Wrexham a great new destination to learn more about our amazing local and national history.
We look forward to sharing more as and when the museum officially opens.
