Location
Located less than 12 miles and under 20 minutes from the centre of Wrexham, just over the border in nearby Tattenhall, a picturesque and quintessential Cheshire village.
The area around Tattenhall features architecture tied to North Wales thanks to the celebrated architect Clough Williams-Ellis.

Home From Home
The Bear has been a home away from home for travellers, locals, and families for many generations.
The current building dates back to being a late 19th Century Inn and there are historical references to an inn on the site as far back as the 17th Century.
However, its real story isn’t in old books...
It’s in the memories, photos, and stories passed down across the years.
This special place is located right in the centre of the High Street, and has been the epicentre of village community life for a very long time.

Guest First
Philosophy
When the team behind The Bear first walked into this grand old red brick building, they saw not a pub in need of restoration, but a place with a story still to tell.
The team committed wholeheartedly to bringing that history back together, and to writing this, its latest chapter. Every detail of the transformation has been guided by a single aim: to make every guest feel like the most important person in the building.
That guest-first philosophy runs through everything — from the warmth of the welcome at the door to the care taken in every room upstairs.

Starting In
The Bar And
Restaurant
Hard to believe the business in its current form has only been operating for a year. There was a great vibe over the busy lunch period, and we were impressed by the quality of service and attention given to every guest by all the staff. The menu changes regularly and the wide range of seasonal choices on offer cater for all tastes.
The setting has been thoughtfully restored and already hosts many regular and popular events. The main restaurant and other informal dining areas seats over 60 and there is a separate private function room that can host up to 40 guests.
Framed outside with a lovely walled garden and open-air south facing terrace at the rear of the building, it is a very pleasant setting.
The venue can be booked for large private events such as weddings, special group gatherings and parties, with photos framed against a picturesque backdrop of the walled garden as well as overnight stays for those who wish to make a full occasion of it.

Moving Upstairs
There are 8 sumptuously appointed rooms, all with ensuite facilities. Starting from £135 per night, the standard offered is consistently high throughout the property, offering the discerning traveller something rare and genuinely special in the area.
