Crossing the Atlantic: One Man's Mission to Make Wrexham Home.
Marc
Herman
We first met Marc at the Drunk Monk one Friday evening in August. While getting to know him over the next few weeks, we followed his progress as he now takes steps to professionally relocate his life from Washington DC to Wrexham.

Marc shared with us his plans to secure permanent residency and to support both the Town and the Community by running for election to Wrexham AFC’s Fan Advisory Board.
Marc’s support for the club proves first-hand that Wrexham AFC has grown well beyond its local roots and has truly built a genuinely global fanbase. His entire approach with his application was framed around “That's great, but the Fan Advisory Board needs to reflect that.” Undeterred in not securing the role this time around, he has thrown himself head-first into the local community.

Mark introduces us to Jeff Ivey.
Already
Making A
Difference
Marc’s been coming to Wrexham and following matches both in person every year since 2022, and is currently living in town for an extended period. He has grassroots connections, knowledge of football, and the perspective of a visiting fan who knows what it takes to make it here. He’s a great voice for the international crowd - helping them navigate matchday while respecting the town - and he actually wants to become part of the community.
Networks
And Local
Contacts
We helped Marc by pointing him to the contacts we know in town to help him make local connections through groups such as Connect Wrexham and Wrexham Business Professionals, where he has met some of the movers and shakers of the local business community. Marc, in turn, introduced us to Jeff Ivey, a Texan who has already moved to Wrexham, when they both joined us in the Visit Wrexham offices.
Business
Focus
Marc has a single-minded vision of making this once-in-a-lifetime move happen. He is a professional business development manager and holds an MBA from California State University. With over 20 years in the beverage alcohol industry in market expansion, wholesaler relationship management, trade marketing, and hospitality, Marc is prepared to continue in this field or pivot to any other area that could capitalise on his knowledge and experience.
Local Teams & Football
In addition to his business acumen, Marc has significant football coaching experience and possesses numerous US Soccer coaching licenses and is currently sitting for his UEFA C license and plans to continue to work through UEFA system. Marc is already coaching in the Wrexham area with Ruabon Rovers assisting with goalkeeper training on a voluntary basis.

Community focused and driven, we wish Marc the very best of luck in his quest.
Marc said to us “Building a bridge between Wrexham and its growing global fanbase ensures that international visitors understand exactly what it means to become part of the community rather than simply visiting. Wrexham's identity and heritage belong to the community, and international supporters should be proud to respect, protect and contribute to that legacy. I am massively proud to be a part of that.”
