Wrecsam
2029
UK City
of
Culture
We’ve lived both in Wrexham and nearby for a very long time, and proud to be an official ambassador for the City of Culture Bid.
Before launching Visit Wrexham, we founded our first business in Wrexham nearly 10 years ago, leading to long-term local connections, sponsorship of the FOCUS Wales music festival and supporting charities.
Official
Ambassador
We also previously sponsored our famous football club, and whilst Wrexham's on pitch success have always been welcomed by all, it’s the people of Wrexham that remain the city's true heart.
Wrexham is a place steeped in history, boasting a 150-year football legacy and industrial roots set against six nearby country parks. Currently experiencing a renaissance, Wrexham combines traditional pubs and independent shops with major developments. Many stories that we share on our growing platform, celebrate that Wrexham has become the UK’s fastest-growing tourism destination.
Global attention from the Hollywood-owned football club has amplified its profile, yet visitors are primarily drawn by Wrexham's authenticity.
Serving as an ambassador for the official Wrecsam2029 bid, we see the potential UK City of Culture title as a catalyst for job creation and growth in our local creative industries. We aim to highlight Wrexham’s arts and music scenes through our well-established connections, and showcased here on Visit Wrexham.
The goal needs to offer a lasting legacy ensuring the city thrives beyond the award year. We fully support the campaign by capturing and sharing local voices via our independent platform to highlight community stories.
As of June 2026, the Wrecsam2029 bid has successfully reached the longlist stage, competing for a £10 million government investment that could generate £200 million for the region. This aim underscores Wrexham's transformation from a former mining town into a cultural hub driven by local passion and we are proud to be a part of it.
