Management
Gerard, also an experienced commercial manager familiar to many across Wrexham, was naturally a trusted pair of hands to take over. Gerard brings a fresh vision to transform the Student Union bar into the ultimate student hub, ensuring every student maximises their university experience and plans to grow the venue capacity to 230, making it a versatile and sizeable operation.

Freshers'
Fair 2026
Wrexham Freshers' Week 2026 is loading. Four days. Zero chill. One unforgettable start.
The headline act: Freshers' Fair, Thursday 24th September. Clubs, societies, and everything in between — all under one roof. One afternoon. That's all it takes to find your tribe when you Visit Wrexham.

10 Year
Milestone
Celebrating 10 years earlier this summer since becoming an independent charity, Wrexham Students’ Union has transformed from a university department based in one of the oldest buildings on site into an award-winning voice for students.
Welcome
To
Wrexham
This milestone highlights their crucial role in securing national recognition for student welfare and engagement. Their decade of growth ensures new arrivals join a mature, supportive community environment dedicated to empowering every student’s academic and personal success whilst also offering a space for socialising and getting the most out of being an active student here at Wrexham.
Freshers'
Week
New students arriving at Wrexham this September should expect a vibrant welcome from Wrexham Students’ Union. Freshers’ week is a key event that features themed socials, quiz nights, and mixers to build connections. The Student Union also offers academic workshops, cultural celebrations, and wellbeing activities like yoga, ensuring a supportive start to university life as well as popular live music and events in the student union bar itself.
Freshers'
Fair
The Freshers' Fair this year takes place in the main Sports Hall on 24th September. It will be the one-stop shop to explore hundreds of clubs, societies, and meet many local businesses with over 1000 attendees expected. It’s the perfect opportunity to sign up for activities, grab freebies, and meet the community that will define your university experience for years to come. Visit Wrexham will be in support as well.
Special
Offers
Giving its immediate proximity to Wrexham AFC - on match days the Students' Union bar transforms into a vibrant pre-game hub, serving hot pizza and cold pints to fans but priced with student offers. Complementing the match day experience, the well-stocked onsite union shop offers exceptional value and discounted University branded clothing and exclusive WSU merchandise, ensuring students are geared up and fed before heading out to town or the Racecourse Ground next door.
Future
Plans
Student Nights are Thursday nights, which are also very popular, and the space lends itself to events meaning the space is fully utilised every day.
Gerard has new plans in play for Live Music, comedian nights and Bingo Bongo as well, meaning these new events will generate valuable additional contributions back into the union for the future. In addition, with a proper café style closed off events space, the space will become even more versatile.
