Visit Wrexham - Supersonic Bar - Oasis Themed Live Music Bar

Supersonic
Bar
Wrexham

A Welsh Heartbeat in a Britpop Soul.

Wrexham’s High Street isn’t just getting a makeover; it’s seeing a homegrown revolution. Supersonic, the town’s new Oasis tribute bar, opened on 3 July.

Family
Business.

Supersonic is the latest chapter in a
distinctly Welsh success story, driven by a local family with deep roots in the community and a team of homegrown talent - run by dad & daughter duo - Marcus and Maisie Ansloos.

The
Idea.

Maisie grew up in Wrexham. She shared with us that Oasis was the soundtrack of her childhood and Marcus had followed them as a die-hard fan right from the very start. As true Oasis fans, they both saw Noel at the Brit awards earlier this year and were inspired by the Oasis bar in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. Maisie told us, ‘it was exactly what we should do in the heart of Wrexham, and the project kicked off for us properly back in February.’

Shared
Vision.

Maisie focused on the creative aesthetics such as ceiling artwork, record-inspired tabletops and merch sourcing - and Marcus got the place up and running and worked with appointing the suppliers and team to make their combined vision a reality. Maisie stressed that they shared the vision and divided the tasks to get it open on time.

Team
Spirit.

The team spirit and working environment is committed and whilst Supersonic is a brand new venture, it successfully draws upon a talented and experienced local team of suppliers and staff alike who have helped Maisie and Marcus run other family owned bars that include the Con’s Club in Ruabon, located to the south of Wrexham and The Cefn Club in nearby Cefn Mawr, meaning the talented team have already developed a track record in the area.

The
Gap.

When we asked Maisie what motivated her to bring this concept to life in Wrexham she said;
“If there is one thing that always connects people – it’s the music. Oasis were the last of
something big, for a technology-free generation, that connected people to music, and something we will never see again. Before the internet we had things like the Blur vs Oasis thing, where music rivalries were shown through buying the records instead of hating online. We wanted to bring the 90’s back for
those who had never experienced it and to remind those who had. Supersonic is a pocket in time."

Paying
Homage

"We have worked hard to pay homage to Oasis, but we also acknowledge other great bands of
the time – Blur, Pulp and others - and we connect them to the legacy that came before them like The Beatles and Stone Roses, and after them like Arctic Monkeys and The 1975. And we do this best by inviting local artists inspired by them to play and perform.”

Live
Music.

We attended both their opening night and again to see how the team were settling in a couple of weeks in. We heard solo artist Sam Felgate who connected the whole venue with his great performance. And we spotted commissioned artwork proudly displayed by Wrexham artist Liam Stokes-Massey, reaffirming the deep Wrexham connections the team have.

With Live
Music Every Friday And
Saturday
Night.

There's a song name inspired drinks bar and cocktail menu, and a range of branded merch including bucket hats and t-shirts - all reasonably priced - the bar offers both the true Oasis fan and curious customer alike a lasting memorable and immersive experience.

Bright
Future.

The future looks bright for this 90’s inspiration. With the Oasis Documentary ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’ scheduled for release UK wide in cinemas this September, the bar will combine its release with a special after party and weekend long event of celebrations.

Manchester
Inspired.
Wrexham
Heartbeat.

We love the vibe that the Supersonic team have created. It looks to Manchester for inspiration but beats with a Wrexham heart. Some Might Say it’s the coolest bar to drop in town. We love it and can’t wait for a comeback.
